Now that felt strange

August 22nd, 2006 at 04:31 am

I went into a store today and bought something (other than food, gas, and dental) for more than $10 for (I believe) the first time this year. Don't fret for me, it was only a new set of sheets for the bed, and with a 30% clearance, and a discount coupon as well. It still came to almost $40. I had no idea how expensive those things had become. Its not that I can't afford it, its just when you don't shop in a store for over half a year, it feels strange doing it again.

Same way I felt when going into a grocery store last night. Very strange. People probably thought I looked odd too..........the look on my face, coupled with a full size cart (so my mom could use it to walk around with mostly) and I only had my 4 items in the bottom!

Not shopping frees up sooooo much time. I remember the first time I tried not spending money for a month, I had time to DO lots of things I hadn't been able to fit in my schedule for ages. It was a nice surprise!

Unchartered waters are not for the faint of heart SG. I am having a good laugh envisioning you, the economeister that you are, entering a department store to purchase linens, similar to that of a caveman ordering at McDonald's. Very funny... (however, I hope to have that same uneasy feeling someday. I sorta' know the feeling. I tried on clothes at a nice store with one of my daughters and although I did not buy anything, it felt like I was violating one of my new golden rules, "Thou shalt not tempt thyself with bright and shiny objects." Peace out...
