What are they spending their money on?

I know its always easy to criticize people and their spending, but really, how can some people not have a lot of money saved up? The local newspaper have this series where they are trying to get people out of debt. The current group are military folks, but this one couple, sheesh. They are making, according to the article, around $16,000 per month, but have terrible credit card bills, tax bills, etc... I have to give them credit for what they do for a living, and putting themselves up for scrutiny, but really!!!

you dont get rich by making more money. you just have more opportunities to become poor.

191,000 annually is before taxes, therefore the monthly amount is $15917 BEFORE taxes. Yes, it's a nice salary, but you make it sound plusher than what it is.

Well I didn't want to work out all the numbers and bore everyone, but if you figure after tax (take home) is $10,000 per month, I mean really, you can't live on $10K/month? Even if they bought at the worst time for housing, their mortgage is maybe $5K / mo (and I suspect it is much lower). That would leave them $5K / month. And thats not enough for utilities / food / transportation / some entertainment???? How much could that be - $1,000 / month max.??? Again, it shouldn't even be that much.

If they're using the rest to pay for the daughter's college costs, it sure wasn't mentioned, and it should have been. Otherwise, they should have more than enough to not have gotten into debt, shouldn't they???

:O HOW MUCH? Even with every bill I could think of, it's still a stretch to spend so much. Sheesh...
