Back to High School - sorta
August 18th, 2026 at 01:53 amWell its been a long hot summer, and I'm ready for fall and football season to arrive. In the meantime now that I can access my blog again, here's some random updates.

---Non finances first---
========================
For my workouts I have added a few more exercises. I now return home a little over two hours after I leave for the gym. I am so tired for an hour or two afterwards, but just chilling and then having lunch is good. As part of my health insurance plan, I was given a scale that tracks my weight (It uses 5G to send in my weight, so I have it tracked.) This has given me the impetus to keep my weight down to a great level. Its like I have made it back to high school, as I remember in 11th grade I was 175-180 lbs. This past week I have gotten down just below 180 lbs and I certainly have more muscle than back in the day, so I'm happy about that.
On election week (1st week of August) - I had 16 hour day at the polls, then the following day the electricity was off & on so much the house didn't cool down. I finally left home to spend a few hours at the local mall. Not the worst place to be, but made for a tough week.
This summer I have been reading up on MBTI (Myers Briggs) which has been illuminating. I did this test at my job maybe 15 years ago and it showed me as an INTJ (no shock there). Anyway alot of what they discuss for INTJ fits me so well. Especially the INTJ "stare".

--- For Finances ---
===========================
My finances in general... ugh, but not really terrible. When I am with other people I hear talk about their finance problems and it makes mine sound not so bad. Is this "misery loves company", or "appreciate what you have"? I'll let you decide.
I had to pay for part of the cruise upgrade, so another $300 expense for me. And I've got car insurance coming up, then property taxes, so it never ends. Sigh.
Still going weekly to the Amazon returns store. Since I last wrote I have sold 4 items online, netted maybe $55, so that's helping pay for my purchases there (usually $10-$20/week). So pretty cool place (except that one time the a/c didn't seem to work - ugh)
In an odd situation I went to Aldi's on Friday just looking to get some vegtables and due to an issue with how the store had priced some specialty pizzas I accidentally got 3 for $1 total. That was not my plan, but I'll take it.
Yard sale Saturdays have been boom or bust, no in-between it seems. Usually bust, though two weeks ago I got like new exercise shoes for $10 that are normally $150. They have bluetooth in them. I guess you can track how far you run in them? I dunno, I didn't feel the need to set this up, but it is cool to see the bluetooth information when I put them on. Same weekend I also got some high end collectible cookware for what felt like pennies - they looked brand new. They fit right into my collections. Don't plan on selling them, but I will go through my collection and pick out other lesser items to sell off instead.
On a side note, ever since COVID yard sales have been extra sparse. I have come up with a hypothesis though - I think the fewer yard sales are due to people selling on facebook. I've sold some there, and it seems like I see tons listed, so maybe...? I check on occassion and gotten a few freebies, so that's cool.

Bring on Fall - Hopefully in a few weeks the weather will start to cool off - huzzah.
